A 14-kilometer section of the A10 between Golling and Werfen with a total of five tunnels (Ofenau Tunnel, Hiefler Tunnel, Brentenberg Tunnel, Zetzenberg Tunnel, Helbersberg Tunnel) is affected.
Dealing with a single-lane road is not an isolated case and has already been learned by many travelers.
On very busy travel days, it is advisable to choose possible alternative routes:
1. from North – East Austria (Upper Austria, Lower Austria, Styria) alternative route via Voralpenkreuz – A9 – Liezen – Ennstal Bundesstraße towards Radstadt – Obertauern.
2. from South – East Austria (W, Bgld, Stmk) alternative route via S36 Murtal Schnellstraße – St. Michael/ Oberstmk. -Judenburg – Murau – Obertauern.
3. from Germany via Passau alternative route via Voralpenkreuz – A9 – Liezen – Ennstal Bundesstraße towards Radstadt – Obertauern. Example: Frankfurt to Obertauern – “only” approx. 100 km and approx. 1 hour more driving time – but much lower risk of traffic jams!!!
